I went to the blog of a known pseudo-intellectual blogger the other day.
And so… he had this post where the entire fucking post was him just throwing around fancy sounding evo-psych terms and social-psych terms… Here’s the problem. The sentences made no sense if you actually are qualified in social psychology. He was using terms that have nothing to do with the sentence he was using them in…
But then, later into the text I came to see a few even fancier sounding terms… I was like holy shit, I’ve never heard of that term in any textbook, study or anything really. So I went to google scholar…
http://scholar.google.com/
I copy-pasted his phrase, did a search, and it came back with no results. In short, it means the fucker made up the term… But the way he writes is so fucking convincing, if you didn’t have qualifications in the subject you’d assume this dork is a PhD in either evo-psych or soc-psych. I keep seeing him just make shit up, and make claims about studies that the study itself never said…
But now he’s fucking getting away with inventing new terms… And in fact, he uses the term AS IF it were something well-established, but in truth he just conjoined two fancy terms he doesn’t even understand, and then he makes a fucking entire column based on something that doesn’t exist. And the fuckers fucking lap it up.
Now I get not everyone has studied this shit, but how can people be so unskeptical and never do searches on their own to confirm shit said online? Like how the fuck can someone just accept someone’s online authority. For fucking’s fuck sake, maybe I’m a grandma typing this on my grand-sons computer. Why do so many gullible fucks just eat shit up and never double check shit.
I see it all over the nets, not just with guys’ blogs. It’s also rampant on dieting blogs. Someone just fucking declares them-self an authority and gives out commands and laws about how things ARE, and people just fucking eat it up… It’s weird shit, really weird.
And it’s not like double-checking is hard. You just type “term research truth” or “pseudoscience term”, with term being the thing made a claim on. If you type searches like that on google you will often find a qualified skeptic ripping apart a concept and showing you how it’s pseudo-science, a scam or crap.
With dieting shit and supplements, you just type “supplementname scam”, and you will often very quickly learn if they thing is a scam, coz there will be some qualified individuals online both ripping it apart, AND showing you what deception was initially used to imply the supplement does anything.
